So the latest project for my fashion class was focused on 'beachwear'. Being in Florida, the best time of day to photograph a model outdoors is either around sunrise or sunset because the sunlight is warm and soft as apposed to really bright and harsh like it is during the middle of the day. That being said, this photograph was taken around 8am when the sun was still low in the sky, but high enough to provide plenty of light. Originally I wasn't thrilled with my results, but I have found several shots throughout this shoot that I do like (including this one). I may try shooting beachwear again sometime, but my teacher was pleased with my results so I'm happy for the time-being. Oh, and thanks to my lovely model, Tori, for getting up way too early on a Saturday and deal with the many curious beach passers-by.

Last of the high key series
So here's the last of my high key photos from the shoot with Lisa that I'm going to post on here. It's still not at the complete point I'd like it to be, but since I'm not handing it in for an assignment I'm taking a little break. So far so good though, just a few touch-ups to go. Enjoy

Disclaimer
I just want for any of my viewers to be aware that these are all jpeg images that I am posting. What this means is that they're a low-quality image. In many of these photos (such as the last one posted) the colors and tones are a lot richer in saturation and clarity in print and other file types than they are displayed on here.
Lisa- High Key Lighting
This is my latest project for my Fashion class. The assignment was called high key lighting which is a really bright white light, with a little bit of a washed out feeling. It's supposed to look really clean and in my opinion, sophisticated. I used Lisa as my model because of her fair skin and played up her eye makeup. Although her red hair is not typical for high key lighting (where blondes are usually used) I don't believe it became a distraction for the type of lighting used.
Digital Imaging
For our digital imaging class we had to re-create a photograph by using 30 or more images of "flat" objects that we shot ourselves. For my base image I used a photograph taken by John Scanlan who is an amazing landscape photographer. I would strongly recommend everyone look into his work even if you don't like landscape photography as a whole (I typically don't, but I can't help but loving his work). The first image is his photograph, and the second is my re-creation of it that is comprimised of around 100 layers.
Chitra- Beauty Portrait
So for my first assignment in Fashion we had to do a beauty shot which is basically a close up portrait of the face. I wanted to steer away the classic make-up ad-esque beauty portrait so I used my friend Chitra, as my model and had her wear some of her traditional Hindu clothing. Considering it's the first image where I did a lot of retouching on the face, I think it's pretty successful.
First Post
Okay, so after a year of saying that I was going to start a blog I'm finally doing it. I'll be posting current work (both in progress and then finished). If there is ever any work that I post as inspiration that is not mine personally I will give credit for to the photographer, otherwise all work posted is my own.
